CA Architects were engaged to create a unique development to at 70 The Strand, Townsville, for both public and private uses.  The resulting design divides the site into 2 lots.

Lot 1 is positioned on the corner of The Strand and Kennedy St, and is a 2 storey bar, eatery, entertainment and lifestyle destination. The family friendly facility seeks to combine a range of uses including multiple kitchens and casual food options, bars, kids areas, and a spectacular outdoor roof terrace which blend together to create an all-day buzzy atmosphere suitable for all members of the public to enjoy.

Lot 2 proposes a 7 storey apartment development. It contains uninterrupted views of the ocean and is a design which will redefine high end apartment living in Townsville. This project contains 110 apartments in 8 separate buildings on a 1.2 hectare super lot site in a Stockland estate.

The apartments were designed to appeal to entry level owner occupiers and investors keen to capitalise on the demand for student accommodation in the area and range in style and configuration in a mix of 1 bed,2 bed and 3 bed layouts.

There was an existing DA for the site that had an approval for 82 apartments and by clever replanning of internal and site layouts AG Architects were able to increase the yield to obtain approval for 110 apartments without increasing overall built area.
